Junior and Senior Staffers Association of the Ghana Ports and Harbors Authority (GPHA), are calling on Government to relieve Mr. Peter Mac Manu, a board chairman of the company from his post on the basis of gross managerial breaches.

They argue that their Board Chairman Peter Mac Manu has not been serving in the interest of the company since he joined them but rather looking out for the interest of his companies that has ties with the Ghana Ports and Harbors Authority as well as the interest of his wife.

To express their grievances to Government, workers of the GPHA demonstrated against the board chairman today and followed it with a Press Conference where they highlighted a number of shady businesses that the chairman has been involved in that amount to gross managerial breaches.

Speaking at the Press conference after Demonstration today, Chairman of the Junior and Senior Staffers Association, Mr. John Assib said they are giving the Government two weeks to remove Mr. Mac Manu from his position for conflicts of interest.

Mr. John Assib also revealed that they are accusing the board chairman for breaching procurement laws and awarding contracts to his wife and his companies which in turn did not serve in the interest of the company.

“The board chairman Mr. Peter Mark Manu has involved himself in Conflict of Interest matters so far as the administration of the GPHA is concerned. The board chairman’s wife has taken over ticketing for staff travels and authority is being priced at cut throat prices than what other competitors are offering for ticketing, Mr. Assib Accused.

Not only that, but the chairman has three of his children now as the biggest suppliers to the authority.

To add to that the board chairman has obtained for himself a contract of over 4 million Ghana Cedis for the wiring of the company’s newly constructed electrical and material block.

The workers further expressed worry on how Mac Manu is intimidating management staff, as well interfering with the day to day running of the Company.

The group again highlighted how the board Chairman attempted to sell a 24 VDC caterpillar engine starter to them for 30,000 Ghana Cedis even though they have been buying it for just 9,000 Ghana cedis from Mantrac.

“Did you come for the interest of GPHA or for your family and yourself”? Mr. Assib asked.
