MAY 24, 2018 LISTEN

National Organizer for the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Operators Association, Nanaba Collins has confirmed that the Nationwide Strike of LPG retailers have been called off to allow customers to be able to purchase Gas for their various uses.

“We have indeed called off the strike action now. The leadership came into conclusion that we have to suspend the strike action”, he said.

LPG Operators Commenced their nationwide strike last Monday following the Government’s decision to implement the Cylinder Recirculation Module (CRM) geared towards curbing Gas explosions in the country.

LPG operators who were kicking against the implementation of the CRM threatened to strike if Government do not cancel the new policy. When Government did not listen to their plea, they went ahead with their strike action on Monday. Following a leadership yesterday, they have decided to end the strike which spanned for three days.

Speaking to Class FM, Nanaba Collins explained that the action was necessary following the realization that they have left consumers stranded and they have to go from station to station in search of Gas to buy.

The National Organizer of the LPG operators Association also revealed that they have met with Government and their concerns were not met but they still had to go ahead and end the strike action because they want to give their cherished customers the chance to buy the gas and use it.

As it stands now the LPG operators are looking at other alternatives and when the time is due they will let the media to know so that they can communicate to the general public.
