Police Haunts Nyantakyi For More Evidence

Police officials are on their way to the residence of the embattled President of the Ghana Football Association to continue another leg of investigations into allegations of bribery and influence peddling.

Joy News’ Parker Wilson who has been following the beat said Mr Kwasi Nyantakyi was whisked away around 16:30 GMT by a team of CID officials from the police headquarters to his house.

At least four senior police officers have escorted the embattled football president to his home.

It is not clear yet what the police officials will be looking for exactly in the residence of the GFA president.

Mr Nyantakyi has been subjected to hours of interrogation at the police CID after he was whisked away from the airport minutes after he touched down from a Moroccan flight in the morning.

He was interrogated in the presence of his lawyer Thaddeus Sory.

The FA president is accused of using the names of the president, Nana Akufo-Addo and vice president, Dr Bawumia to solicit monies from prospective investors.

In an undercover investigation whose content is yet to be made public, Mr Nyantakyi is alleged to have demanded monies from these investors [undercover journalists] to be given to the two most powerful men to soften the ground for a potential business transaction.

The content of the video, excerpts of which was shown to the president was not too pleasant to him. He then reported the incident to the police CID who have since begun investigations.

Mr Nyantakyi had to cut short his official trip and return to the country to answer for potential charges of fraud.
