19.05.2018 LISTEN

Mrs Cynthia Morrison, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Agona West, has organised free medical screening for more than 350 aged to improve on their health.

Most of them were detected to have high blood pressure, malaria, hepatitis 'B', jaundice, body weakness, and dental problems among other diseases.

Mrs Morrison said the screening formed part of the activities to mark the celebration of the Mother's Day.

She noted that women in their old age became fragile to diseases, hence the free health screening to know their various ailments and provide a better treatment.

Mrs Morrison said a healthy life inures to the wellbeing of the family and, therefore, the need to protect women from becoming vulnerable to diseases.

The MP said she would continue to organise the screening for old men and women to ensure that the people in her constituency were healthy.

She urged the citizenry, especially the aged, to undergo periodic medical check-ups to know their health status to prevent them from falling ill.

Mrs Morrison presented gifts and transportation fares to the participants.

The screening was undertaken by a medical team from Agona Swedru Municipal Government Hospital in the Central Region and held at the Gethsemane Methodist Church premises.

In another development, the MP undertook inspection of three water-closet toilet facilities being constructed in three communities at Agona Swedru to see to the progress of work on the projects.

The projects are aimed at improving sanitation in the Agona West Municipality.

Mrs Morrison said the same modern facilities were being constructed at Agona Nyakrom, Nkum and Kwamang.

She gave the assurance that the roads at Agona Swedru and the Agona West Constituency would be constructed by the Government after the Minister of Roads and Highways had undertaken inspection of abandoned road projects started by the previous government.
