A man was killed after he crashed his vehicle into a faulty stationary truck at Kabu Hill in the Suhum Municipality of the Eastern Region.

The deceased, 26-year-old Richard Aduamah, was travelling from the Kumasi end of the stretch when he drove into the front tyre of a 40-foot container truck which had developed a mechanical fault.

The truck had been left in the middle of the road without any warning signs to other road users, according to DSP Ebenezer Tetteh, the Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, who confirmed the incident to Citi News.

“The trailer had developed a mechanical fault and was abandoned in the middle of the road with no triangle sign or any indication to warn or alert other road users so the young man who was not able to identify the truck on time run into the tyre of the trailer and died on the spot.”

“It took collective efforts from personnel from the fire service before the body of the 26-year-old was removed from the mangled vehicle and subsequently deposited at the Suhum government hospital for autopsy and preservation.”

He added that that the police are on a manhunt for the driver of the truck and assured that the police are making efforts to arrest him.

“I must say that we have begun our investigations into the incident and we will arrest the driver of the trailer to answer some questions. I also use the opportunity to caution drivers and other road users to as much as possible adhere to all traffic and other road users regulations to avoid needless accidents.”
