E.P. Church Challenged To Break New Grounds

Dr Archibald Yao Letsa, the Volta Regional Minister, has challenged the Evangelical Presbyterian (E.P.) Church to break new grounds and improve the lots of its members and the poor in society.

He said though the Church had achieved a lot over the years, there was more to be achieved and called on the Church to assist government to meet the ever increasing needs of the populace.

Dr. Letsa made the call at a thanksgiving service to climax the ninth synod of the Ho East Presbytery of the Church at Klefe on the theme, 'Breaking New Grounds: Now is our turn.'

He said the Church had moved into a new era of challenges and expectations hence must adopt new measures to be 'relevant' to the current generation of its members and the larger community.

'…We are happy but not content with what we have achieved. There are more orphans, widows and vulnerable people out there seeking our love, compassion and support. There are more social amenities that the Church could provide to continue to complement the efforts of government. These the Church must see as new grounds to be broken,' Dr. Letsa stated.

He asked the Church to embrace new technologies to win and retain souls and give more empowerment to its members.

Dr. Letsa also urged the Church to take advantage of government's social interventions, especially planting for food and jobs to expand its farming activities to create more jobs and wealth for its members.

Reverend Sammy A. Amoako, Ho East Presbytery Moderator, called for unity among members of the Church for peace and growth.

'We must recognize our unique differences and forge ahead in unity. Let your wisdom combine with someone's knowledge for us to build a strong church and a strong society,' he said.
