26-Year-Old Nigerian Busted  For Robbery

A Twenty-Six year-old Nigerian, Uchenna Chuku, is in the grips of the Police in the Nanumba North District of the Northern Region for suspected robbery.

The suspect, according to the police, went to Damanko in the Nkwanta South District of the Volta Region on the 26th of April 2018, and hired a motorbike to Wulensi in the Nanumba South District.

Halfway through the journey, the suspect intentionally dropped his phone and ordered the motor rider to stop for him to pick it up.

When the suspect picked the phone and was on his way back to the motorbike, he brought out a pistol and shot the back of the rider.

Thinking that he had killed him, he bolted with the motorbike to Bimbilla and sold it to a mechanic.

The Crime Officer for Nanumba North Municipality, ASP Ebenezer Kusi-Pepra, told Citi News police picked up information after the suspect had sold the motorbike and arrested him.

After interrogation, he led the District Crime Officer, ASP Ebenezer Kusi Peprah and his team to Medina, a suburb of Bimbilla, where the SANYA motorbike valued at Ghc 3,200, was recovered from suspect, Yakubu Musah who bought it for Ghc 1,500.

ASP Ebenezer Kusi-Pepra said further checks in the suspect’s room revealed a locally manufactured pistol, one live BB cartridge and one used one.

The victim, who survived the attack and later made a report to the police, provided documents to prove ownership of the motorbike, and also identified the suspect.

The suspect is currently in police custody assisting further investigations.
