Prof. George Kwaku Toku Oduro Should Be Mindful Of His Intermeddling In The Current UEW Matter
09.05.2018 LISTEN

Professor George Kwaku Toku oduro who is the current UCC Pro vice chancellor is on record to have made a recommendation to the government for the dissolution of the current governing council of uew for peace to prevail in the university. He termed his recommendation as a matter of academic necessity which I consider laughable and mockery of himself. The learned professor is aggrieved just because, his surrogates who turned UEW into a milking cow have been asked to vacate their post due to the unconstitutional extention of mandate directives by former president John Dramani Mahama. The high court in its latest ruling upheld declaratory reliefs sought by the private citizen who went to court to challenge the said unlawful extention which was against the very Act that established UEW. Not only did the private citizen go to court on that tangent but rather, a path that has exposed the suspended VC and the Finance Officer. The said expose was in respect of contracts awarded in breach and in violation of section 22 of the public procurement Act,2003( Act 663). Some of us are waiting patiently for the office of the special prosecutor to be fully composed so that the suspended officers will have their days in Mr.Amidu's office.

It appears that, the learned professor is not abreast with the unfolding drama concerning the matter in issue so I will pardon his ignorance for now. Before I proceed with my comments, I wish to state with emphasis that, UEW is not at war neither is it on broken pieces as alleged by Professor George Kwaku Toku Oduro in his contemptuous admonishment to the president. What baffles me is the attempt by the learned professor to paint a glooming picture about a university he is not a member. The saga ended up in court of which both parties were duly represented by their lawyers. Through out the proceedings in court, the competency of the court was never questioned by both parties through to the final determination. In conflict management, the best option to manage an escalating brouhaha is to resort to externalities for proper resolution and in this case the appropriate forum was the court. Nowhere did the recent ruling of the court pronounce a dissolution of the current governing council because the lawful body is the causative agent in the ensuing matter. The question we need to ask is what is the basis of the learned professor's recommendation.? when a learned professor fails to apply simple common sense and wisdom in his thoughts, these are some of the things reasonable minds will be confronted with. Very shameful and repugnant for a learned professor to come out loosely like that. Some of us can only put this blame on the consumption effect of TRAMADOL because nobody in his reasonable mind will put out this baseless suggestion.

Instead of the learned professor to take his time to get the historical antecedent of the matter,he decided to come out to attack the legally constituted council for reasons best known to him and his books. Seriously if he had taking his time,he would have realised that, the defunct Governing council continuous operation was a contravention of the very Act of parliament that established the univesity and so steps or moves geared towards repairing the violation cannot be said to be war against two factions.According to his deficient logic, seeking a redress from a competent court of jurisdiction is an issue of WAR. May be he has his own definition of the term "war".

If Professor George Kwaku Toku Oduro thinks that, the legally constituted council is not fit in its administrative functions, then he should follow the bold steps of Kofi Supi Kwayera and go to court to have the council dissolved so that we can clap for him like we are doing for the private citizen who challenged the unconstitutionality of the defunct governing council at the high court. Again, the learned professor failed to appreciate the fact that, the current governing council didnt take the matter to court but rather a private citizen did that under his constitutional right enshrined in the 1992 constitution of the Republic of Ghana and so it cannot be said that, there is a war between two factions namely the suspended VC and his surrogates as against the current legally constituted council.

I have said it some time ago and I will continue to say that, the strenuous and subtle attempts by those charlatans who happens to be thr cronies of the suspended VC to wake up this matter will only worsen the case of those "impeached officers" in no time.Whether rain or shine some of us will ensure the smooth prosecution of those bandits and very soon the fireworks will start.Let me sign off at this juncture and prepare very Well for the next episode.
