05.05.2018 LISTEN

A total of 571 Community Policing Personnel from five regions have passed out under the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) Programme in the Volta Region after 21 days of rigorous training.

The regions are Greater Accra, Central, Volta, Eastern and Brong Ahafo.

Greater Accra had the highest number of 329 personnel with 100 from Central Region, 82 from Volta, 59 from Eastern and one from the Brong Ahafo Region.

Mr Francis Ebenezer Doku, the Deputy Volta Regional Police Commander, called on the personnel to aid the police in maintaining law and order in communities they would be posted.

He cautioned them against divulging information relating to security intelligence adding that a lot was expected of them to win the fight against crime, as they 'are the liaison between the Police Service and the public.'

Dr Archibald Yao Letsa, the Volta Regional Minister, said the YEA was established to empower the youth to contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of the nation.

Mr Ninkab King David Nkanbonam, the Regional Director, YEA, congratulated the recruits and urged them to use the acquired skills to help fight crime in their communities.

He asked them to be disciplined, hardworking, patriotic and have a high sense of loyalty to the state and not any individual, group or political party.

The passing out ceremony was the fourth in the YEA Community Policing programme.
