Nigeria Needs 2ND  Ind’dence Cries a Concern Citizen

Feature Article Nigeria Needs 2ND Inddence Cries a Concern Citizen
MAY 3, 2018 LISTEN

A lion cannot break an iron says this writer. However, that seems to be what’s happening now in neighbouring Nigeira—Africa’s most populous nation. It’s an open secret that a group of persons is awfully ransacking the nation’s treasury. They’re like hungry lions aimed at devouring anything and everything that they set eyes on.

But can the cabal break the backbone of the giant of Africa and its people? Or it’s time for the people to rally together and scatter the common enemies of Nigeria.

xxxxxNot long ago a Nigerian in diaspora by name Federick Odorige, who’s President of the Nigerian Association in Hungary and doubles as the Global Coordinator of the European Coalition for Security & Democracy in Nigeria addressed Nigerian senators and some of the nation’s leaders.

“Nigeria will never break, people like you will break for Nigeria to move on. Yes we cannot continue in Nigeria, if we must find our bearing as a nation...you leaders are the main problems Nigeria has,” says Mr. Odorige.

Even though this news has been out there for while, I think like Mark Anthony’s famous speech-’Friends Romans Countrymen’ in the play Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare that has stcuk with me for many years, Fredercik’s speech truly bears repeat. It’s unclear to me though whether the address was given via skype or he did so in the presence of the leaders at Nigeria’s Parliament House.

In apropos does the venue even matter? After all, that isn’t the crux of the subject. To me what’s more important is that today, the message has gone viral and I’m glad to have been privy to it courtesy of the social media.

Mr Odorige appeared so appaled by the wanton coruption that’s gripped his native Nigeria especially the act of corrruption engaged by its leaders. Indeed the outrageuos earnings by Nigeria senators, governnors or public offcie holders had ticked off the man that seemed to have the whip in his hand ready to crack it as he calls for a second independence for Africa’s most populous nation.

“Today Nigerians need another independence from our politicians and we must get it by fire and by force. We need a second independence the second independence will be our last fight as a people. The state for greatness. This is revolution without ammunition. Nigeria is politically independent but economically- imprisoned. We are imprisoned by those that rose from grass to grace many of you were nothing but now you live like demi-gods,” he says.

Speaking as the Global Coordinator of European Coalition & the Security of Nigeria, Mr. Odorige said the speech was based on a series of accusations made against a group of leaders that his association had received from respected Nigerians, including former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo.

“The Nigerian Senate President Dr Alhaji Bukola Sarakie, and I extend to all members of the Nigerian senate , to Yakubu Dogoran and all members of the House of Representatives that have mischieviously recieved monies, our money outside the laid down law as prescribed the by the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fisical Commission (RMAFC). Our statement today is not intended to disrespect the Speaker of the House of Representatives and its members. But if you’re federal legislator , in the Federal Republic of Nigeria making laws for Nigerians and you received any salaries and still continue to receive these salaries outside the laws of Nigeria overtly or covertly this message is directed at you and we reserve no apology.”

..We’ve not come here today in search of diplomatic language. You cannot call yourselves lawmakers e=when indeed you’re law breakers. We respect the positions you occupy but our problem is with you-- the occupiers of those exalted positions. Without mincing words we dare to say that you’re misfits for those positions.“

He read an excerpt of the former president’s speech delivered on January 13 January, 2016. Mr. Obasanjo addressed the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

And here’s it: “The two arms of government run the affairs of the country unmindful of the rainy day and the rainy day is now here. Where;’s the patriotism, where commitment, where’s service? By our our constitution the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fisical Commission (RMAFC). is charged with the responsibility of fixing emoluments of the three arms of govenrment.-- Executive, Legislarure, and Judiciary. The Commission did its job but by different disingenuos ways and advices the legislators has overturned the recommendations of the Commission and hyped up for themselves. There’s no valid argument for this except to say it for what it is law breaking and impunity by law makers.”

Mr. Odorige, continued: “We know that the recent revelation by Senator Sani that Nigerian senators earn more than Naira 14 million is just a part of a wider truth. There are founded statement according to reports that after you {Sarakie} received from left right up and and down and centre you received about N30 million monthly. This is around EU 75,000. Revelations show that you senator Sarakie and other leaders of the National Assembly earn far much more than that. This shows that a monthly earning of a Senator is more than a yearly income of a Nigerian medical doctor. Think about that!

It is also more than the salary of 42 Nigerian army generals or more than twice the pay of the US president. By further calculations it’s 9 times the salary of US Congressmen that earn between US$ 174-,000 --191,000 per annum. With such salaries resources needed for capital and social welfare projects for Nigerians are splitted in a way by you people. Is this fair ,is this fair for a country you swore to serve? This has created hunger, unemployment , and a huge economic deficit to the resources of our country. Why do you continue to do this to us as a nation? All in the name of a national service? “

How do you stop corruption in Ngeria and for tha matter Africa?

The nature of corruption in Africa has caused many to contend that it can never be stopped. But what is it? Its is a canker or disease ? Some say corruption is a demon. Looks like it. Because everyone seems to be infected from the street vendor to the chief at the Wall street or mainstreet. In veiw of thhis, some political and economic chieftains have suggested the introduction of capital punishment and I tend to support the idea. I think that could possibly help stem the tide if not eliminate the canker completely. There are some influential individuals that are waging vigorous war against corruption.

Is it the gun in his name that makes hiim spit fire sometimes or he’s naturally born to be so? President Olusegun (GUN) Obasanjo can be described as a non-conformist, a maverick. He speaks his mind and tellls it as it is. On Wednesday January 13 2016 Mr. Obasanjo in a 13-page statement called on President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek reelection in 2019.

Also he’d had written a condemnatory open letter in December 2013 titled “Before it is Too Late,” where he highlighted the numerous failings of the Jonathan adm ioniostration.

In a special press statement entitled: The Way Out A Clarion Call for Coalition for Nigeria Movement’ stated that Mr. Buhari the sitting president has performed far belowexpectation and should honourably ‘dismount from the horse to join the league of the country’s former leaders whose experience , influence, wisdomand outreach can be deployed on the sideline for the good of the country.”

And if Nigeira can move on, I think it would take the likes of Mr. Obasanjo and perhaps Frederick Odorige who I don’t know much about him to start the revolution he’s preaching.

Fumed with anger the Nigerian resident in Hungary zoomed in on his target: “ Nigerian Senate President Dr Alhaji Bukola Sarakie<” he says. “And I extends to all members of the Nigerian Senate, to Yakubu Dogoran and all members of the House of Representatives that have mischieviously recieved monies, our money outside the laid down law as prescribed by the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fisical Commission (RMAFC) .”

.”But if you’re a federal legislator , in the Federal Republic of Nigeria making laws for Nigerians and you received any salaries and still continue to receive these salaries outside the laws of Nigeria overtly or covertly this message is directed at you and we reserve no apology”

“...We’ve not come here today in search of diplomatic language. You cannot call yourselves lawmakers when indeed you’re law breakers. We respect the positions you occupy but our problem is with you-- the occupiers of those exalted positions. Without mincing words we dare to say that you’re misfits for those positions. You’ve been cheating Nigerians for too long and this continue theft of our commonwealth must no longer be accepted. The time for it to stop has come...the time has come for all Nigerians to come together and scatter the common enemies of national progress. Sarakie you voted various sort amount of monies to yourself against the laws of Nigerians. And this is against section 70 of the Nigerian Constitution, that says that only RMAFC has the right to fix the salaries of all public office holders including legislators. You people are earning more than what is statutorily appropriated to you.”

The Nigerian Constitution as amended in 1999 clearly states that the National Assembly cannot use its appropriation power for the personal gain of law makers. So what are you doing now? The earnings of these legislators without a recourse to RMAFC is a flagrant abuse of power..it is ultra vires, inexcusable, unconstitutional and to say the least it is criminal .rpt ... You’re the ones that will fix your earnings, and you’re the ones that annually part the national project of our country which you ingeniously prune out of our national treasury into your private pockets. This has been going on for years and you always feel t there’s nothing Nigerians can do. You’re so corrupt that even Obasanjo calls you corrupt. Suddenly the so-called leaders of Nigeria have so entrenched corrupt ion that some Nigerians glorify the corrupt. Nigerians now sheepishly keep quiet because stealing is no longer corruption. ...”

“We refuse to remain weak how you run and continue to run the Federal Republic of Nigeria as evil cabals are the reason why different parts of the country are living in tension now. Others are agitating for the break up of Nigeria. Nigeria will never break, people like you will break for Nigeria to move on. Yes we cannot continue in Nigeria, if we must find our bearing as a nation...you leaders are the main problems Nigeria has.”

Today Nigerians need another independence from our politicians and we must get it fire and by force. We need a second independence the second independence will be our last fight as a people. The state for greatness. This is revolution without ammunition. Nigeria is politically independent but economically- imprisoned. We are imprisoned by those that rose from grass to grace many of you were nothing but now you leave like demi-gods. The bones of our heroes past are now turning grieving painfully in their graves. The labour of our heroes past now seem to be in vain because of your actions.”

In April this year, the Federal Government released names of 23 public office holders who’ve allegedly looted the nation’s treasury. And consider the billions of Nairas looted in the past by the likes of former presidents Sana Abacha, Ibrahim Badamasi Babaginda, Diezani Allison Madueke former Minister of Petroleum Resources to name a few. How much money was she alleged to have looted US$90 billion?
