NDC 13 NDC Executives Resign In Akwatia
MAY 1, 2018 LISTEN

Some thirteen constituency executives of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have resigned in Akwatia, Eastern Region.

The erstwhile executives say they can no longer tolerate the accusation that they sabotaged the re-election bid of Babal Jamal who lost the 2016 elections.

The 13 reject the accusation and have come to the conclusion, their efforts over the years have not been appreciated.

They were already facing the possibility of suspension after some party members believed to be supporters of the defeated MP petitioned the national leadership for the suspension.

A meeting with NDC National Vice Chairperson, Anita De Soso to resolve growing factionalism in the party failed.

Henry Boakye Yiadom who was constituency Vice Chairman until the resignation said Anita Desoso worsened the issue by taking prejudicial positions.

"They called us to Koforidua to meet Anita and when we got there it was as if she had a prejudiced mindset.

…she started making certain pronouncements which don't augur well for a party that wants to unite its front. In fact, I got furious as to how to respond to the queries leveled against me" he said.

Feeling unwanted and unfairly treated, they have quit en masse.

Henry Boakye Yiadom, popularly known as Okoyo said he invested his personal funds to help the party secure victory for Baba Jamal.

He told Joy News their membership with the party remains unchanged despite resigning their positions.
