The District Chief Executive for the Bongo District Assembly in the Upper East Region, Peter Ayimisa has urged local and foreign investors to explore the vast investment opportunities in tourism and clay deposits in the region.
According to Mr Ayibisa, a Public Private Partnership (PPP) investment in the tourist sites and vast deposits of clay in the area could supplement the building industry and create jobs for the youth.
Speaking at this year’s May Day celebration in Bongo, Mr Ayibisa commended workers across the region for their dedication and commitment towards the development of the area and called on investors to invest in the district.
The Bongo district has many tourist destinations including the Vea recreational centre, the Aposerga and Azudoo rocky mountain and the Apasepanga footprint.
“The district is also endowed with a natural resource such as clay deposits, the Zorkor dimension rocks. We, therefore, urge investors to take advantage of this huge investment opportunity in the district for mutual benefits…The district’s partnership with the University for Development Studies (UDS) and the Savanna Accelerated Authority (SADA) are prospecting for dimension stone, clay deposits and other naturals resources,” he said.
He impressed on workers to work hard for the successful implementation of the various programmes of the government in the region.
Upper East Regional Minister Rockson Bukari urged the youth of the region to take advantage of government’s intervention to reducing unemployment through the Nations Builders Corps programme which will recruit 100,000 youth this year.
He said the launch of the programme by President Nana Addo affords unemployed graduates to be employed in seven modules under the plan for three years with a monthly stipend of GHC700.00.
Mr Rockson added that the government was committed to job creation, adding that, the cabinet will soon approve a five-year skills development programme for implementation.
He made a clarion call on workers to change their mindset and commit themselves fully to the service of the country.
