The Police at Juaso have seized about 15,790.81 grams of marijuana at Asankare in the Asante-Akim South Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
One Kwame Agyei has also been arrested by the police in connection with the marijuana.
The drug was being transported from Accra in a VIP bus to Wankyi, a farming community in the municipality.
The suspect was on Monday put before the Juaso Circuit Court and later remanded into prison custody.
He has been charged with possessing narcotic drug without lawful authority.
Police Detective Inspector Princeton Peasah Darkwah told the court, presided over by Yusif Asibey that forensic laboratory examination confirmed that the dried leaves were marijuana.
He said they were intercepted while in transit upon a tip-off.
The dried leaves had been compressed into 21 parcels and concealed in Agyei's travelling bag.
He was arrested together with the bag immediately he alighted from the bus at Asankare.
The accused, who pleaded not guilty to the offence, told the court that he was unaware of the contents of the parcels he was carrying.
He is expected to reappear before the court on May 2, 2018.
