Auditor General Issues Certificate To Surcharge GES
27.04.2018 LISTEN

Dr. Clement Apaak, a member of the Public Accounts Committee has confirmed the Auditor General has issued a certificate surcharging Ghana Education Service (GES) along with the Director of the Ghana Education Service, Professor Akwasi Opoku Amankwah.

This follows a sitting by the Public Accounts Committee on a matter between the Ghana Education Service and Eduvid Education Limited, an IT company that was supposed to supply and oversee the installation of an information technology system for Senior High Schools across Ghana.

The senior high schools involved paid their moneys to Eduvid waiting for Eduvid to do their part of the agreement. Eduvid however, has since the time the agreement was made in 2015, refused to provide the internet services for the senior high schools.

It is due to this that the GES is calling for the revoke of the contract with Eduvid and surcharge them to be able to take them through appropriate channels to retrieve their money.

Professor Akwasi Opoku Amankwah, Director General of GES does not only want the money to be retrieved but he wants it to be retrieved with interest.

Speaking on class FM’s news at 5:05, Dr. Clement Apaak disclosed the public accounts committee is determined to do what is in the best interest for the people of Ghana.
