The Member of Parliament for the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency, Hon. George Mireku-Duker has wished all aspirants contesting for the NPP Western Regional Executive elections.

The NPP is having its Western Regional Executives' election at the University of Mines and Technology's (UMaT's) auditorium in Tarkwa.

Five hundred and fourteen delegates of the party are to elect executive officers to steer the affairs of the party for the next four years.

The party's Regional delegates' conference is taking place at University of Mines of Technology's (UMaT's) George Grant auditorium in Tarkwa of the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency.

The NPP won sixteen (16) seats out of twenty-six seats in the Western Region in 2016 parliamentary elections.

A total of 43 candidates are battling for 10 executive positions in the Region.

The elections which begun today, Saturday April 21 2018, will see a sum of 514 voters comprising of 442 delegates (Constituency Executives), 16 Members of Parliament, 16 Regional Executives, 10 Patrons, 10 Council of Elders, 17 TESCON Executive Members, 2 National Council of Elders and 1 Founding Member, partaking in the election of 10 officials in the following positions; Chairman, 1st Vice Chair, 2nd Vice Chair, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Organiser, Youth Organiser, Treasurer, Women Organiser, and Nasara Coordinator.

The party goes into this crucial election with 26 Constituencies.

Speaking to GhanaWeb's Western Regional Correspondent, the NPP MP for the area, who is also the host MP of the conference, Hon Mireku-Duker tasked the party's members and delegates to comport themselves well to ensure a peaceful conference.

He expressed his profound gratitude to the party in the Region for selecting his Constituency as the venue for the delegates' conference.

He revealed that chosen his area as the venue was not achieved on a sliver platter.

He said this is the first time in the history of NPP politics that Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency has been chosen as the venue to host such a big event.

He advised the candidates to respect the outcome of the results.

He also tasked the candidates to use the appropriate channels to seek redress in the event of grievance.

He said the party members should remain steadfast and resolute in their quest for a peaceful conference.

The host MP urged the party faithfuls not to do anything to jeopardize the that the Region is currently enjoying under the leadership of President Akufo-Addo.

He also also that the winners of this election should be measured in their jubilations and celebrations in their victory.

"Our every effort from here on is towards victory 2020, let us accept the delegates' choice", he emphasized.

He concluded by saying the NPP party in the Region will increase the voting pattern in 2020 parliamentary and presidential elections.

"Western Region NPP will be stronger forever and I thank the Election Committee for selecting my Constituency and indeed the party has seen the votes I got in 2016 general elections for the party", he added.

Currently voting is underway which is being surprised by the Western Regional Director of Electoral Commission, Mr. Opoku Mensah.
