Joyce Mogtari Is A Rotten Joke

Feature Article Joyce Mogtari Is A Rotten Joke

She may have either conveniently forgotten this or she was rather too young to remember, but there was a time in the early 1980s when the Rawlings-led junta of the erstwhile Provisional National Defense Council (PNDC) created a Cuban-type propaganda program called “Let The People Know” on then GBC-2 Radio, which purported to detail the anti-African and anti-Third World subversive activities of the United States’ Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). This is not in any way to assert that no such activities had ever existed or been undertaken by the CIA in either Continental Africa or the African Diaspora and/or elsewhere in the non-Aryan and non-Western world, as part of America’s foreign policy agenda. Rather, we raise this fact of Ghana’s history to clinch home the point that if any group of Ghanaian leaders deserve to have their judgment and common sense impugned, that this definitely must be the leadership of the Rawlings-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) which, in spite of all its neo-communist, populist and faux-socialist leanings, promiscuously consented to secretly signing at least three military cooperation agreements with the United States between 1998 and 2015.

You see, the leaders of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo camp, including our incumbent one, that is, President Addo DankwaAkufo-Addo, have never made any secret or light of their passionately pro-Western neoliberal policy leanings. The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) is a registered and certified member of the International Democratic Union (IDU), just as the main opposition National Democratic Congress is a bona fide member of Socialist International (SI). And so rather than question why the Akufo-Addo Administration would democratically ratify an Enhanced Military and Security Cooperation Agreement with the United States, Mrs. Joyce BawaMotgari, the cousin and so-called Special Aide to former President John Dramani Mahama, ought to be asking how it came about at all that her openly pro-communist and pro-socialist kinsman consented to the initialing of a military agreement with the United States, and then to doing so in camera or secretly, without ever having the contents of such a landmark pact verging on the sovereignty of Ghanaians, as clearly stipulated in the country’s 1992 Republican Constitution brought to Parliament for ratification.

In other words, what I want to echo here for the benefit of those who may have so soon forgotten the same, is the “unspeakable hypocrisy” that President Akufo-Addo recently underscored in his multicast address to the nation, in the wake of the unimpeachably democratic ratification of the EMSCA pact by the leadership of Ghana’s National Assembly. That the Parliamentary Minority Side, led by Mr. Haruna Iddrisu, boycotted the vote only further strengthened President Akufo-Addo’s very public damnation of the pathologically self-serving Rawlings Posse. More so, because the same boycotting Parliamentary Minority would not hear of any retroactive recall and debating of the three previous military cooperation agreements signed with the United States by former Presidents Rawlings and Mahama, obviously because the NDC operatives could simply not stand the white-hot heat scrutiny of their own hypocrisy. You see, it was all too natural to expect a confident and trusting American side consent to signing an “Enhanced” military cooperation agreement with an unabashedly pro-Western Akufo-Addo government, rather than foolishly and unwisely gambling with the faux-socialist NDC kleptocrats who care far more about lining up their wallets and pocketbooks than jealously protecting the security and sovereignty of our country.

And on the latter count must be emphasized the inescapable fact that long before the legitimate and democratic ratification of the EMSCA pact, Chairman Rawlings, then Ghana’s Absolute Monarch, had signed the Small-Scale Miners’ Act, 1989, which precipitated the massive influx of Chinese-made excavators into the country that literally resulted in the apocalyptic laying to waste of the overwhelming bulk of Ghana’s waterbodies and forestry resources. And so, in reality, rather than fault the admittedly rabidly racist President Donald John Trump for degrading Africans and their continent, veritable political airheads like Mrs. BawaMotgari ought to be taking a critical look at themselves in the mirror.
