Accra, Aug. 25, GNA - Students of the University of Ghana, who are unable to register by Friday, August 26, would automatically have to defer their courses of study in the University, the Acting Director of Academic Affairs Directorate of the University, Mr Emmanuel Amartey said on Thursday.

Speaking to the GNA, Mr Amartey said the University acknowledged the difficulties students went through during the Academic Registration Exercise and subsequently extended the deadline. He observed that the University had extended the registration period to enable all students who wished to register for the 2005 - 2006 academic year to do so. A penalty of two million cedis was to be paid for late registration.

Mr Amartey urged students, who would not be able to go through the exercise by Friday, to observe the rules laid down for deferment of their programmes in the University.
