The Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu has admitted to meeting president Akufo-Addo in the heat of the double salary scandal but has declined to divulge the issues he discussed with him.

He told Joy News’ Evans Mensah his meeting with the president was a matter of public record but will protect the sanctity of the discussions he had with him.

He was responding to claim by the Majority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu that he Haruna Iddrisu had spoken to the president to intervene the double salary claim which has been the subject of police investigation.

Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu told Joy News’ Evans Mensah on Top Story that Haruna Iddrisu wanted the president to intervene in the matter in order to protect the image of Parliament.

“The Minority Leader has spoken to the president that some intervention must be done in order to save the image of Parliament,” he said.

When the Top Story host probed further about what Haruna Iddrisu wanted from the president, the Majority Leader said “Yes! I can confess to this.”

“Asked what exactly” Evans threw in the follow-up question to Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu to which he answered; “that these things will dent and further inflate the mortal wound on Parliament.”

In a reaction on Wednesday, the Minority Leader said his meeting with the president was “privileged and I will continue to protect privilege.”

“It is not out of place for the Minority Leader to engage with higher authority on matters that border on national interest and for better governance.

He also lamented what he says is the media trial on the matter.
