Reports from London say the National Democratic Congress chapter in the UK is in disarray as its branch executives and members fight over a 5,000 pound cash sent from Accra by its National Executive to the membership to plan and organise a demonstration against President Akufo Addo in London scheduled for Saturday.

Sources say the money was wired on 5th of April by the Chairman Kofi Portuphy to the NDC UK Secretary Sam Quaye to mobilise as many Ghanaians as possible to demonstrate against the President in London at the Commonwealth Summit.

Sources say Mr Sam Quaye, who is an employee of MITIE Resources Limited in London, gave the money to Mr Kofi Kwakye, the Chairman of the NDC and the treasurer one Seth Anorson.

Members of the NDC in the UK who were not aware of this amount of money from Accra are angry and disappointed. At a heated emergency meeting last Saturday, they accused the executive of sharing the money among themselves and using them to go and demonstrate against the Ghanaian government.

One member Freddy Alakplator ,a leading member of the NDC in the UK said “ for 8 years we were in power ,we in London got nothing .we use our money, leave our jobs, go and sit in radio stations to speak for the party .If you have received money from Accra ,why won’t you resources us to work? Greedy people! ”

One NDC UK member who called into a leading radio station Hot FM said the planned demonstration was a total waste of time and was being led by the John Mahama faction in the branch party led by Sam Quaye, Louisa, Emmanuel Bullard, Nana Debrah, Frank Mensah and Michael Frempong who want to use the demonstration to mobilise support for Former President John Mahama to contest the NDC primaries and lead the party in the 2020 elections.
