Relatives of a journalist allegedly murdered by unknown assailant at Bekwai in Ashanti Region, are calling for justice.

They insist an arrest and prosecution of the culprit will appease them as well as the spirit of the deceased.

The 31-year-old Portia Amma Agyeiwaa died at the Bekwai Government Hospital after being stabbed several times in her room with a sharp object.

Her brother, Kwaku Kwarteng Kobia, tells Ohemeng Tawiah the family is devastated by the callous act.

" My sister had no prompt attention when she fell unconscious after bleeding profusely. She was weak at the time my brother was called to the scene but unfortunately, she couldn't tell us anything about who attacked her," Mr. Kobia said.

The murder of the only female broadcaster of Bekwai-based Dess FM left residents in shock.

She was reported to have boarded a bus on Friday bound for her hometown, Asante Mampong.

She later rescinded her decision to travel and abandoned the trip only to be murdered on Sunday, three days later.

Police have intensified investigations after taking statements, at least, from three people following a visit to the scene by the homicide unit.

The three who have been interrogated include the deceased’s brother as well as a male co-tenant and his teenage daughter.

Sources say the Bekwai police have picked vital leads for possible arrest of the assailant.

Kwaku Kwarteng Kobia who speaks for the family wants a speedy investigation.

"We are devastated at the manner she was stabbed in her room.

"The family will not rest until the perpetrators are found. We are aware of police effort to arrest the assailant but we will go at any length to ensure they are brought to book. We will do whatever is required to get justice for her," he said.

According to him, the family is yet to come to term with the murder of late Portia, the third of seven siblings.

"We have been hard hit by her loss. This is the first time we are witnessing such callous murder," he revealed.

The former student of Bekwai Wesley High School completed and graduated in 2008.

She enrolled at AskMedia Training Institute, a private media training institution to study journalism after which she had a practical attachment at Royal Television.

She later got employed by Dess FM about six months ago where she worked until her gruesome murder.

Mr. Kobia says her loss is irreplaceable.
