Stop Investing In Fashion And Focus On Your Children's Education

J'ann Royal Children Centre a Non-Governmental Organisation taking care of the needy children, over the weekend celebrated its sixth anniversary with a call on parent to prioritise child education over outfits.

Mr Joseph Chardy Lamptey, the Founder and Director of the Centre, who made the call, said no parent should allow his or her child/children to remain uneducated because of the notion that there was no money at home.

He said parents must not allow their children's future to be jeopardised by the 'unfortunate' circumstances that surrounded them in society.

The celebration was made colourful with rich African cultural display from the children, who exhibited their talents in style as they thrilled parents with poems, poetry recitals among others.

The celebration, which was on the theme: 'The Child's Education Cannot Wait' attracted parents of children in the School and some key stakeholders in the communities served by the Centre.

The occasion was used to thank God for his graciousness over the years and also thank benevolent individuals and organisations who had contributed to the success chalked by the Centre based in Midie in the Eastern Region.

Mr Chardy Lamptey said the Centre, which started in 2012 with seven kids from the Midie Ketewa community, now had 400 children from eight communities in the area.

He said the Centre over the years, had contributed to the educational needs of children in Midie, Nsawam, Korleman, Midie Ketewa, Hebron, Ayigbe Town, Satellite/Kutunse, Kotoko Town and Papase communities.

Asked the impact of the Centre on child upbringing in the community, Mr Chardy Lamptey said, the Centre had designed monthly career week, which allowed child to appear in the outfit of their future career.

He said through the Career Week, children were made to believe that they were closer to their dream career option in life and help to see it closer than they could think or imagine.

He said the Centre had mostly been resourced by the benevolence of Volunteers Partnership for West Africa and other community volunteers as well as friends.

Mr Chardy Lamptey called on the government to assist by deploying young people to the Centre to help in educating, motivating and protecting children to secure a better future for young ones, whose parents might be handicapped.

J'ann Royal Children Centre operated as an educational institution, which gathers children from its operational communities to help them unleash their potentials through various career enhancing activities.
