S. O. Frimpong Transport Emerged 2017 Best Transport Company

S. O. Frimpong Transport Limited emerged the Overall Best Transporter for this year's Vivo Energy Ghana Transporter's Awards ceremony organised in Accra at the weekend.

Horgle Transport Limited and Ahiadorme Transport Limited and their drivers were also awarded for their contributions in the sector for undertaking high risk activities, while working safely and professionally.

Engineering Contractors-Universal Engineering Contractor, Metal Craft Engineering Contractor and Build us Engineering Contractor were also awarded for ensuring safety at the workplace.

The Award ceremony seeks to recognise the achievements of the transporter companies whose services Vivo Energy Ghana employs.

Mr. Ebenezer Faulkner, the Managing Director of Vivo Energy Ghana, congratulated the award winners for their performance in delivering petroleum products to various Shell sites on time and in full without any road accident.

He stated that the transporting companies transported 592 million litres with about 200 trucks over a distance of six million kilometres without an accident.

He said the Company's commitment to achieving and maintaining the highest international health, safety, security and environment standards was at the heart of their business, and that the Company would continue to invest in training and adoption of best safety practices to improve performance.

'Our customers are an integral part of the Vivo Energy business. They make it possible for our high quality Shell fuels, lubricants and bitumen to reach our numerous sites and customers across the country,' he added.

Mr Faulkner said the Company was now the hub of training excellence in the area of road transport safety since other neighbouring countries learn from their best practices, encouraging the award winners to continue to be the pacesetters in high safety standards.

He said their outfit would focus on using advanced technologies such as Drive Cam to improve driver coaching and mentorship to maintain their drivers at world class standards.

'We will also continue to review and update our Road Transport Hazard and Effects Management Process to ensure controls continue to be as low as reasonably practicable to ensure a safer work environment'.

Mrs May Obiri-Yeboah, the Executive Director of the National Road Safety Commission, lauded the transporters for their achievement and added that their effort had contributed in the reduction of accidents in the country.

She cautioned the drivers not to be complacent but continue to exercise caution behind the wheel to continue to witness accident free on the roads.
