All members of the ruling New Patriotic Party aspiring for various executive positions at the regional level in the upcoming elections have been reminded about the need to be decorous and circumspect in their campaign trails.

Later this month, delegates will be choosing regional executives to steer the affairs of elephant fraternity and it behoves supporters and candidates to avoidthrowing caution to the wind and engaging in mud-slinging, insults and verbal vituperations.

“We should remember that when we wash our dirty linen in public, we give our political opponents ammunition to fire at us.”

Madam Justina Owusu-Banahene, an aspiring BrongAhafo 2nd Vice Chairpersonof the NPP gave this admonitionin an exclusiveinterview with the in Sunyani.

“Let us therefore be decorous and circumspect in our campaign and activities especially before and during the upcoming regional elections. At the end of the elections, the party should be triumphant. Delegates therefore should elect people who are hard working and committed to ensure the development and victory of the party.”

“Candidates and delegates should remember that UNITY after the elections should be the guiding principle for all. Winners should work hard to bring all on board for the common good of the party. Let us once again demonstrate to the world that we are Patriots of democracy in Ghana. The ultimate goal should be to retain the party in power for decades”, she further said.

Madam Owusu-Banahenewho is popularly called ‘Awo” described herself as“a humble servant ready to serve the party” and called on delegates to vote massively for her as the BrongAhafo 2nd Vice Chairperson.

“In vying for the position of BrongAhafo Regional 2nd Vice Chairperson Justina brings on board an enormous experience and a feminine touch to blend with the executives to ensure and consolidate the party's development and victory”, she said.

Meanwhile, 31 people have filed their nominations to contest the ten regional positions in the upcoming elections in BrongAhafo.

Each contestant is optimistic of emerging victorious as they all keep canvassing for votes from delegates across the various constituencies in the region.

The incumbent Regional Youth Organiser, Rashid Konlanbiq is the only contestant seeking to renew his mandate without any challenge.

The incumbent Regional Chairman, Francis Adu Appiah, is being challenged by Francis OpokuSarfo and Dr. Charles Addo with the position of First Vice Chairman being fiercely contested by five strong contestants.

They are the incumbent Regional Youth Organiser, Kwame Baffoe, Dr. Emmanuel Opoku-Marfo, Patrick PeprahAppiagyei, Dabie Appiah Mensah and ShaibuBamba.

The Second Vice Chairperson position is being contested by incumbent Joseph Mensah and his only challenger, Justina Owusu-Banahene, who seems to be on the lead in the contest while David Boakyeand John Nketia are challenging the incumbent Regional Secretary, Kofi OfosuBoateng for the position.

The position of the Assistant Secretary is being contested by three persons namelyGausuMohammed Baba, AsareBaffour and Clement Bonsuwith AlhajiIssah being challenged for the position of the Regional Treasurer by Justice Appiah Antwi.

Madam Doris Asomah and Mrs Patience Tettey seem to be threatening Madam Dorothy AmaAmponsah’s chances of retaining her position as the Regional Women’s Organiser.

Six individuals namely Michael OseiBoateng, AbdulaiRazak, Eugene KusiBoakye, Richard AduKwadwo, Isaac Kwaineand Isaac Kwame Benkai are vying for the position of Regional Youth Organiser while the Regional Nasara Coordinator position will be a fight between AdamuBermaSulemana, KassimSiaka and AlhajiAdamu Mohammed.
