The Member of Parliament for Prampram, E.T. Mensah, has said the NDC is not afraid of the NPP in anyway and that his party is ready to face the NPP boot to boot in the coming by-election at the Odododiodioo constituency slated for August 30, 2005.

Mr. Mensah who is also one of the leading members of the NDC alleged that the NPP has planned to use machomen to intimidate the supporters of the NDC and rig the by-election. He therefore warned the NPP to refrain from any activities that might lead to confrontation at the constituency.

At a rally at the

Opera Square in Accra to introduce the NDC candidate, Nii Jonathan Tackie-Kommey, he said "if the NPP is going to use 100 machomen in an attempt intimidate us, we are ready to produce 1000 machomen to counter them." He assured the NDC supporters that the leadership of the party is strongly behind them to fight hard and retain the seat.

He told the people not to succumb to what he called the lies of the ruling NPP foot soldiers.

The founder of the NDC, former President Rawlings challenged the electorate to vote for NDC and expose the NPP because "the NPP rigged the 2004 elections and would want do same here." The secretary for the NPP, Kwadwo Afari, however, said the party has no intention of using machomen or whatever to intimidate or rig the by-election.

"It is not true that we going to use machomen and nobody is going to rig the election. We would make sure the by-election is done in a free and fair manner," he declared.
