Nyinahin (Ash), Aug 20, GNA - The Nyinahin Traditional Council has raised 33 million cedis as seed money for an education fund it had instituted for brilliant but needy children in the area. Nana Amampene Boateng, Nyinahinhene, who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency, said since education formed the bedrock of development, there was the need to give a strong push to the initiative taken by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to support brilliant but needy children.

Speaking in an interview at Nyinahin, he said the traditional council would organise fund raising activities yearly to support the fund.

Nana Boateng also appealed to the well-to-do citizens of the area and Nyinahin citizens in general, both at home and abroad to contribute generously to the fund to provide education for children in the area. He asked the people to invest in the education of their children to ensure a bright future for them instead of spending their money on expensive funerals and on the acquisition of material things.
