Why this Partisanship Brouhaha Over the Probability of Ghana andthe USA Entering into a Military Pact?

For populism and the usual absurdity associated with the “do and die” quest by the Ghanaian incumbent political party to continue to remain in power or the opposition party to unseat the government, they never seem to agree on policies proposed by the other whether they are made in good faith or not.

Now, it has come about that the United States of America desires to sign a military pact with Ghana which may culminate in the siting of an American military base in Ghana. Among some of the few reasons made public, the pact will be for the common mutual good of both countries as well as for the benefit of other sister African countries or the world as a whole.

The current NPP government being a listening party and government due to its strict adherence to democratic processes, has decided that the issue be made public and debated on the floor of Parliament. The government is not ready to do any behind-the-curtain deals as it was in the case of the two Guantanamo Bay inmates secretly spirited to Ghana by then President John Dramani Mahama’s NDC-led government a few years back.

Instead of the opposition NDC party gurus and faithful giving Parliament the space, peace of mind and the freedom to dispense their duty as legislators, and in accordance with the stipulations of the Constitution, they have rather mobilised themselves to stampede the debate. Their argument in defence of their childishness and exhibition of utter unintelligence and inferiority complexes to approaching issues as rational beings is simplistically that the NPP government by that pact if agreed, is surrendering Ghana’s sovereignty to the Americans.

How does Ghana sell or surrender her political sovereignty to the US via the acceptance of the pact with the subsequent installation of an American military base in Ghana? According to the NDC and the dissenting few or many, the military base if built in Ghana indicates that Ghana will come under the neo-colonialism of the Americans. This argument doesn’t sound credible in my ears.

Following my doubtfulness about the argument in defence of the NDC’s opposition as established through their agitations and flocking into the House of Parliament in their multitude as a pressure group to scupper the entire debate, I quickly researched the internet to see in which countries worldwide that America has got military bases and if they have taken over the sovereignty of those countries either directly or indirectly? Some of the countries are Cameroon, United Kingdom, Israel, Kuwait, Spain, Italy, Kosovo, South Korea, Belgium, Australia, Germany, Japan, Niger, Turkey, Qatar, Greenland, Cuba and Bahrain but just to mention a few.

In which of the mentioned countries has America seized their sovereignty for the fact that they have their military bases there?

In today’s world of terrorist activities and other such insecurities abounding on large scale, it is good that intelligence is shared to try to prevent such bad occurrences if possible.

To be honest with my readers, I will prefer a hundredfold of American intelligence-sharing and cooperative military bases in Ghana to having Chinese doing uncontrollable illegal surface mining (galamsey) in Ghana to destroying our water bodies, arable fertile farmlands and the bitterest of it all, selling sophisticated arms to armed robbers to rob and kill us. They are themselves shooting to kill the Ghanaian natives with impunity and flouting our laws. The Chinese have become uncontrollable because of the stupid infatuation with corruption by our less intelligent and womanising leaders who can easily be bought with a bottle of chilled beer and a succulent 18 year old girl, as once said by an Indian to a Ghanaian in Peckham in the UK. He said and I quote, “You Africans are stupid. We can easily get whatever we want from your leaders. It suffices to invite them over, give them a bottle of chilled beer and a very beautiful eighteen year-old girl to sleep with. Bingo, the deal is done”

How silly are we? Is that Indian not vindicated when that Chinese young girl called Huang kept flouting our laws when the NPP government had asked all those into galamsey to stop their devastating activities? She was doing that because she had used her genital to induce some stupid Ghanaian Government Ministers to be empowered to do whatever she wanted in our country, something no foreigner dare do in China or else, faces execution by short-range firing squad.

NDC must stop their nonsense and be a bit farsighted. I am highly flabbergasted by their nonsensical manifestations of machismo where peaceful common sense must rather apply.
