The ever-growing global population faces a wide range of hazards such as tropical cyclone storm surges, heavy rains, heatwaves, droughts and many more. It is in this respect that Ghana Meteorological Agency has held a public lecture ahead of the world meteorological day slated for 23rd March 2018 on the theme "Weather Ready, Climate Smart".

Director General of the Ghana Meteorological Agency, Michael Tanu, speaking to the media urged Ghanaians especially aircraft operators never to undermine meteo reports.

"Disaster is inevitable, let's all endevour to take precautions since this years rains will be heavy and stormy", he added.

Climate change is already having effect on agriculture. Future climate change will negatively affect crop production in low latitude countries, while effects in northern latitudes may be positive or negative.

Climate change will probably increase the risk of food insecurity for some vulnerable groups, such as the poor.

Famers are adviced to adhere to the meteorological reports and take keen interest in it.

Since this year's rainfall is going to be above the normal rainfall for most places in the southern parts of the country, Charles Kweku York cautioned the public and government to take radical measures in place to avert any negetative effects.
