Students of Osei Kyeretwie Senior High School (OKESS) in Kumasi have received a boost in Information and Communication Technology (I.C.T) following a donation of four brand new Laptops computers by the 1987 Year Group old students.

The laptops, with an estimated cost of GH$ 6,400.00, was to add to stock at the school’s Computer Laboratory, which will allow students to get access to computers without any hindrances.

Presenting the items to the school, the chairman of the 1987 Year Group, Andrew Abayie, a Pharmacist, noted that the donation will enhance the teaching and learning of ICT and afford the students to get practical aspects of it.

“The donation will enhance and increase flexibility in the learning and teaching of ICT to help students get access to education, regardless of time and geographical barriers,” he said.

“I will also encourage other year groups to donate some computers to fill the laboratory since those procured by the school are yet to arrive, so that any student who patronizes the place will have a computer to use,” the chairman appeals.

The Headmistress of the school, Mrs. Mary Cromwell Owusu , who received the items expressed her appreciation and assured them of putting them into good use.

She was optimistic the gesture will help the school realize its one-to one student computer ratio.

“We are grateful for the kind gesture by the 1987 year group. Though the school is procuring some computers to augment the few ones, we believe the donation will help the school realizes its one-to one student computer ratio,” she added.
