Extremism is one of the social problems that the world is facing today, and for that matter, Africans are not left out. Extremism comes in many ways be it religious, political, cultural or social that deals with group base interest. What is then extremism? Extremism means, literally, "the quality or state of being extreme" or the "advocacy of extreme measures or views".

Extremism is described as actions or ideologies of individuals or groups outside the perceived political centre of a society; or otherwise claimed to violate common moral standards. In other words, it is excessive actions or opinions of fanatical method of behaviour.People has actually lost sense of dealing with issues of their interest, they see their interest to be superior over anybody’s view and therefore must prevail at all cost. Human beings as we are, different views must come within us but that is not to say we are fighting, having different ideas from someone else is not bad at all.

In our today’s world, most people has lost their sense of morality in addressing issues and thereby using extreme measures to solve them. Extremism In Africa has cause us more failure and under development than anything you can think of, African political leaders and religious leaders feels their ideas or views must always prevail at all cost and whosoever stand against their ideas must not survive.

Extremism has taking so many lives, properties and time from us, its high time the world come together and stand up under one umbrella to fight against extremism and terrorism. In our todays society, one of the most pressing challenge to peace and harmony is extremism and terrorism, extremism has no place in the society and must therefore be condemn and discarded, peace is what the world need and not extremism.

Our today’s world is now globalized and countries are now interconnected without borders, so extremism in one country should be a world problem that needs to be addressed, extreme groups likeISIS, Boko Haram, Al-Shabab and the Taliban are interrelated and can cause harm to any country.

The public needs much education on how to resist extremist ideologies. Prevention of violent extremism and terrorism is not achievable by the government and security services alone, Families and community leaders are best positioned to identify early those at risk of extremism and help them tomove in a different direction towards promoting values of peace and respect for diversity and non-violence. There is the need for us to develop skills or abilities to identify practical solutions to combat extremism in our society. We need to understand that extremism is not a doctrine in any religion, culture, creed or country.

In fact, some extremist groups believe that they are following Gods instructions. As such they do not understand what they are doing is wrong. In order to fight away extremism, we need to identify factors leading to it and treat them immediately. We cannot deal with extremism if we don’t see it as a problem affecting the whole world and therefore must be collective way of solving it.

But in recent times, when any of this extreme groups does something weird, instead of us coming together to address and find solution to it, we then starting to attribute it to some particular country, religion, culture or social group, and with this we can’t combat extremism because there will be a togetherness if others are being accuse of the problem.
