We Want To Write Our Final Exams In Peace--Ejisuman SHS Alleged Sex Victims

Some victims of the alleged sexual abuse at the Ejisuman Senior High School (SHS) have asked educational authorities to make alternative arrangements for them to write their final exams.

The students of the Ashanti Region school say they are being victimised by some teachers since they appeared before the investigative committee to testify against them.

Luv FM’s Erastus Asare Donkor reported the students as saying they are verbally abused, called out and disgraced by both teachers and housemistresses.

Even though an investigative committee report is yet to be made public, some students accused some of the teachers of Ejisuman Senior High of sexually abusing them.

Over 10 students said they told the committee they were forced by some of the teachers to stroke their manhood until they ejaculate as punishment. The students later reported same to the media, an action that has gotten the teachers angry.

Others spoke about how the teachers demand sex and forced to have sex with their teachers.

Ever since the reports became public, some of the students alleged they have suffered some level of victimisation from teachers.

A student said she was slapped from behind by a Social Studies teacher on grounds she wore un-prescribed footwear.

Others say the relationship between them and their teachers has turned frosty.

In the latest development, some of the students say they have been threatened with segregation during the final exam and their papers will not be marked.

They are therefore asking for an alternative arrangement to enable them write their exams in peace.

According to the Luv FM reporter, the committee's report is due to be released on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) Charlotte Osei wants the students making the allegations to be separated from the teachers.

Speaking on Joy FM’s International Women’s Day edition of the Super Morning Show on Thursday, she said it is time women demanded action to bring an end to the issue.

“I would have hoped that at the very least some action will be taken so that these girls are not in daily contact with these teachers,” she said.

She said they need to be protected since they are not adults and they are being exploited.
