Let's Support The Police To Fight Crime

The Wassa East District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr. Wilson Arthur, has asked everybody to find space to support the crime fight.

He said they should accept to cooperate, flag up and provide the police with credible information to arrest criminals living in their communities.

He was speaking at parade of school children to mark the 61st Independence Anniversary celebration at Daboase.

A total of 1,200 students and cadet corps from seven education circuits in the district were on hand at the parade

"Ghana beyond aid' was the theme chosen for the event, which was interspersed with cultural performances and attended by the Member of Parliament (MP), Mr. Isaac Adjei Mensah, chiefs, heads of department, assembly members and the general public

Mr. Arthur spoke of the government's unwavering commitment to move the country beyond aid by ensuring efficient management of its resources.

He said the given the enormous natural resources the nation had been blessed with - gold, bauxite, cocoa, timber and oil and gas, that noble goal could be achieved.

The DCE expressed happiness about the marked improvement in the district's performance in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) - moving from 58 per cent to 98 per cent in 2017.

He announced the start of construction works on a quarry and cassava starch processing factories to create job opportunities for the population and boost the area's economy.
