Group Calls For Improvement In Pensions
Koforidua, March 6, GHA - The True Nkrumaist Front (TNF), a pressure group affiliated to the Convention People's Party (CPP), has appealed to the government to take a second look at the monthly pensions paid to pensioners in the country.
This was contained in a press release copied to the Ghana News Agency by the group to commemorate the 61st Independence Anniversary and it was signed by Mr Alber Quarcoo-Zah the National Coordinator of the group.
The group said due to low salary levels of many hard working public servants, many of them on retirement, are still renting apartments and are finding it difficult to pay their rents due to low monthly pensions paid to them.
The release said in many cases some retired senior public servants are receiving monthly pensions which are below allowances being paid to national service personnel who are now about to offer their service to the nation.
The release said 'a country that does not reward her hardworking public at the end of their service, is not worth dying for '.
The group congratulated hardworking Ghanaians for their service to mother Ghana and urged all to continue to worker harder for the prosperity of the country.
