EPISODE 1
So as promised, I bring you the very first episode of my MUSINGS FROM KWABRE. Hmmmmm, where do I even start? There are just so many things to talk about that I do not even know which one to start with...

Ah well, let me start with the precarious security situation in the country and the monumental failure by those in charge to nip it in the bud. The statistics are getting scarier and from my dusty window in Kwabre, the picture is not getting any clearer.

Mr IGP, Are you there? Is this reshuffling of the same old faces your way of handling this situation? You put someone who is struggling to control a region in charge of National operations and you think you're serious about curbing this menace? No wonder, you allowed the dollar to break jail after our vice president said he had left the keys with you! Respectfully Sir, you have failed us. My grandmother can no longer sleep with her eyes closed and so neither can we. She has lived through various regimes but even she is scared of the alarming proportions of insecurity we are currently experiencing.

We are told that as part of the government's efforts at fighting this canker, 100 corolla cars have been procured for the Police... Oh my God, please who made that proposal and is that person living in Ghana? Corolla vehicles for luxury or to fight crime? I just can't far! How can you chase an armed robber on the dusty roads of Kwabre? Just the potholes are enough danger to the security personnel driving in those corolla cars. It is high time people who are paid to think actually start THINKING!!!

People are 'fruitlessly' calling for COP Kofi Boakye to be made IGP. I say fruitless because it just won't happen. A President who has surrounded himself with his friends and cronies who are unable to deliver yet does not have the 'balls' to fire them can NOT have the guts make COP Kofi Boakye an IGP. In any serious jurisdiction, heads would have rolled by now but in Ghana, we are celebrating mediocrity! Mr President, Ghanaians need COP KOFI BOAKYE in the Field so just cut the politics crap and do the needful to ensure our security...

The NPP manifesto was titled 'CHANGE: AN AGENDA FOR JOB' and yet their very first actions was to create an unprecedented level of unemployment under the guise of fighting galamsey without giving them alternatives. The NPP in its manifesto rightly identified unemployment as a security threat yet have failed monumentally in that regard and so the devil has capitalized on giving work to the idle ones. The results are clearly the state we find ourselves in now and the sooner we stopped revelling in the pyrrhic victory on this tactless campaign against galamsey, the better for everyone. You cannot provide 110 plus jobs for your friends, family, cronies, concubines etc. and subject the rest of the population to abject poverty and hardship!

So where is the Police Visibility and Accessibility Unit? I understand it has been renamed. Does the renaming mean the police should no longer be visible? Ghanaians were a lot safer when the Police was visible and the statistics indicates same. So why are we where we are now? I hope the Police is not using our lives and safety to play 'chaskele'. Any such decision taken with regards to the current situation should be sustainable and not knee jerk.

But then what do I know? I am just an ordinary boy from Kwabre who is privileged to own a blog. Stay tuned for more MUSINGS next week. Cheers

It's yours truly,
Kwabreba Sawa
