Senya Beraku yesterday welcomed President J. A. Kufuor with a durbar to mark the beginning of his five-day tour of the Central Region.

Addressing the gathering, the President assured Ghanaians of the Government's commitment to continue to serve truthfully.

He said that “it is only through the Government's honest service to the people that the wealth of the nation could be unleashed.”

He said that though Ghana's motto had been “Freedom and Justice,” Ghanaians over the years had not had the privilege to exercise that freedom and expressed happiness that Ghanaians were now enjoying that freedom under his administration.

Government, he said, had decided to upgrade the Senya Beraku health post to serve the health needs of the people in the area.

He expressed regret that the health post, which was built during the Second Republic, had not seen any renovation over the years and stated that the Government would not look on unconcerned for it to fold up due to lack of maintenance.

President Kufuor also said that plans were far advanced for a company to build a five-star hotel in the town to boost tourism.

The chief fisherman of the area, Nenyi Kwamena Martey VI, commended the Government for the numerous development projects embarked on in the area.
