New Post Office building inaugurated at Adawso

Adawso (E/R), August 11, GNA - Mr Albert Kan-Dapaah, the Minister of Communication, has said any government appointee ''who enters into a bad contract would never have his or her peace.''

He said such a politician could always be called upon to answer for his or her wrong doings even years after leaving politics. Mr Kan-Dapaah was speaking at the inauguration of a 250- million-cedi new post office building for Adawso in the Akuapem North District on Wednesday that was financed through the HIPC Fund.

Mr Kan-Dapaah said the new post could provide banking services and advised the people not to allow party politics to divide them. Ms Susana Mensah, the Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, appealed to the chiefs, elders and assembly members of Adawso to assist the Akuapem North District Assembly to acquire a final disposal site for solid waste.

She said national budget on malaria has risen from 17 billion cedis to 850 billion cedis and appealed to towns and villages to set up environmental committees to handle sanitation problems.

Mr Kofi Dua Adonten, the Managing Director of Ghana Post, said the Adawso Post Office would offer domestic and international money transfer services, priority mail, EMS and swift postal services.

He said an Internet caf=E9 would also be established at the post office and appealed to the chiefs and people of the area to ensure that people posted to work at the post office take their work serious.

The District Chief Executive of Akuapem North, Mr Edward Adu Aboagye called on the people to patronize the post office and assured that the district assembly would support the now post office.

Nana Amoah Fugyaw, Adawso Mankrado who chaired the function, appealed to Ghana Post to allow the old post office building in the town to be converted into a branch office for the Mamfi Rural Bank. 11 Aug 05
