Little Changes That Bring Huge Relief And Smiles
28.02.2018 LISTEN

My name is Kofi, and I am teacher in a private mission school. I love to work hard so that I do not depend on others for my daily bread. When I close from school, I take up extra home tuition. I do this diligently.

In one of the homes I teach, there is a stretch of dusty untarred road leading to the house . This depth of dust on this road can suffocate the welt and heel of your shoes. Whenever I get down from a taxi and look on the road, my heart drops. I look at my polished glittering shoe and my black trousers and I my face just drops.

There is no alternative road, no alternative means to get there. Sometimes, you just have to go through some unpleasant things to get what you really want. I whisper to myself everyday “ when will this road be tarred?, when will the rain fall to subdue the dust on this road? Hmmm,” For now I have to use this road as long as I can. May be, one day things will change, or I may have a better place some day.

Yes, Things can change, or perhaps, it can even rain. But Sometimes I get sad, but I don't quit. Other times, I just relegate it behind me and walk through the dust to and from the place to achieve my goal for that day.

The Drivers plying on that road too are merciless. They will split the dust on you and in flash whisk by pass you as though they are riding and emergency ambulance. My black polished shoes and black pair of trousers change colour anytime I use that road. I even sympathise with them. I speak to them, one day, it will change and you will be glad.

I am optimistic that one day things will change. May be the road can be tarred or maybe I will have a better offer somewhere where the road is tarred and less dusty.

Just last week, I heard from some the students in that area that the road has been tarred. I couldn't believe my ears.

Wow….
The little girl I teach came running to.me and said, “Sir, our road has now been tarred”. I was utterly stunned.

Then i knew that Not every prayer should be about you, some people need you to say a word of prayer for them too.

I went there yesterday and Lo and behold, the road has been tarred. Hitherto, dusty road,is now black, and the remaining chippings on it is making it glitter. What a relief. I couldn't hide my joy. So things can really change. Indeed no situation will remain forever. One day, directly or indirectly things will change for some things to change.

I will no longer have worry about my shoes . My black pair of trousers will be spared from this dust. What a l LM llm bill relief.

I know things will keep on changing, it's possible I will not be walking on this road any more. But just may be , I will be riding in my car on on that road. It is possible, YES! IT IS. That I can even have my house built in this vicinity, so that my friends will be happy coming to visit me. Little things change and they bring a lot of smiles.

A little change can affect you positively. Just do not give up. Remain positive and steadfast. Keep your head up and toil on. And in your toil rejoice and be hopeful that things will change for good. Who knows what the next wind will bring?

The ways of God ionionq hey are winding and mysterious. You will never understand him. He controls his time.

One day, that little change will bring you huge relief and unending smiles.

Thank you and Enjoy your day.
