Akatsi Hospital Ranked Second Best In The Volta Region

The Akatsi District Hospital has been ranked as the second best health service provider in the Volta region after Keta Municipal Hospital.

This was contained in the Volta Regional Health Performance feedback to hospitals in the region for 2017.

The regional health performance team based the ranking on 19 key health performance indicators.

These include Institutional Neonatal Mortality (1000 live births), Still Birth, Institutional Infant Mortality, Institutional Under Five Deaths and Teenage Pregnancy.

Others are average ANC Visits Per Client, Total Delivery among others.

The four -member audit and ranking panel, lead by Dr. Timothy Letsa, comended the facility for achieving the lowest Neonatal and Infant Mortality rates respectively in the entire region.

Akatsi Hospital is also listed among four facilities in the Volta region to have achieved best performance for Under Five Mortality Rate of less than 5% (U5MR<2.3) for 2017.

The highlights also indicates that the facility was among ten hospitals in that region that had zero Maternal deaths during the year under scrutiny.

In all, 29 hospitals in the Volta region including the Akatsi South District Hospital, the Volta Regional Hospital and other public hospitals as well as private and Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG)facilities were accessed in the 19 areas of health service delivery between January and December, 2017.

The Akatsi South District Health Director, Dr. Nicholas Kyeremeh was elated of the facility's performance and commanded both management and staff for their hard work whilst pledging his directorate's continuous support to the hospital.

The Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Michael Kwashie said management would not be flattered by the current position in the region but would rather work hard to be counted among the best health service providers in the country.
