The Inspector General of Police (IGP) David Asante- Apeatu has commended the level of crime management in Brong-Ahafo, attributing the feat to the proactive nature of the local media, among other police interventions.

He said his administration's vision to transform the Ghana Police Service into a world class institution needed the backing of the media to successfully combat crime.

Interacting with journalists and other media practitioners to round-up his three-day working visit in the region, in Sunyani, the IGP said the Service also required sophisticated logistics and equipment to effectively manage crime for Ghanaians to live in safe neighbourhoods everywhere.

IGP Asante-Apeatu said the Service had started a project at its headquarters, in Accra, to digitise its operations to meet the contemporary standard of policing.

He explained that modern policing was a shared and collective responsibility, and appealed to the public to, therefore, support the service to perform to expectation.

The Police, he said, would continue to remain responsive and proactive in crime combat.

IGP Asante-Apeatu, however, noted that the issue of Fulani herdsmen remained a national challenge, which required urgent attention.

To find lasting a solution to the issue, the IGP hinted that the Government intended to create ranches, which would enable the herdsmen to allow their cattle to graze without encroaching people's farms.
