Why Is Dr Valerie Sawyerr Vehemently Bemoaning The Appointment Of Mr Martin Amidu As The Special Prosecutor?
23.02.2018 LISTEN

Although as sorrowful as I am at the time of rushing out this write-up, having just been informed at 01:00 hours UK time of Friday, 23 February 2018, of the loss of a dear stepsister of my wife, I cannot withstand the unnecessary scaremongering bashing of Mr Martin Amidu, the confirmed Special Prosecutor, by Dr Valerie Sawyerr, the former Deputy Chief of Staff in the erstwhile NDC administration.

She has been citing portions of the 1992 Constitution to buttress her contention that Mr Martin Amidu is unfit to be appointed the Special Prosecutor due to his age. Let her understand that any unique problem requires a unique solution. The 1992 Constitution demanded of elected public officers to uphold the cardinal principles of probity, accountability and transparency. Did we see those qualities manifesting in the entire bunch of the NDC misfits in their public offices with herself inclusive? Did they not come to selfishly, gluttonously flay mother Ghana of her wealth in broad daylight through obvious acts of corruption?

Does she know that the corruption her government came to practise without shame is the bane of the socio-economic development of Africa in general and Ghana in particular? Does she know that the selective justice, nepotism and cronyism her John Mahama NDC-led government practised with impunity, embezzling State funds and assets as if tomorrow never comes has led to the need for appointing a Special Prosecutor to quench that animalistic urge in the Ghanaian to steal without fear of retribution?

A person of proven integrity was needed to fulfil that position and none other than Mr Martin Amidu is more qualified for the post in the current circumstances. Irrespective of his age, Ghanaians are more determined to fight the institutional corruption than the chirpings being spewed all over the place by Dr Valerie Sawyerr. If she has skeletons in her cupboard hence the vehemence of her attacks on Mr Martin Amidu, then she had better start to plan how to answer before him rather than trying to court the public support to get rid of him before he starts work.

Ghanaians have now become a bit political savvy thanks to Captain Smart’s Adom FM programmes revealing the scale of committed acts of corruption by men and women in official leadership positions against mother Ghana. This coupled with the president’s resolute determination to fight the canker despite its consequences on his future chances of seeking re-election, Ghanaian youths will be ready to embark on civil uprising to liberate Ghana from our corrupt politicians any moment from now should the NPP government fail. The president has vowed to stamp out corruption rather than involving himself in its perpetuation just to be able to stay in power. This is why he has appointed a man of acknowledged public standing with aversion to corruption to help him minimize, if not to exterminate completely, official corruption from Ghana.

Will Dr Valerie Sawyerr prefer deadly civil revolution to ridding Ghana of corruption to Mr Martin Amidu exercising peaceful, but employing legal means to achieve same objective without spilling anyone’s blood? Should his age disqualify him only to be replaced by civil revolution? Which one does she prefer?

The ongoing inherent corruption is unique so we require an equally unique but powerful antidote to administer to it. That antidote is nothing more than Mr Martin Amidu. Therefore, Valerie can continue to splash all over the media her expletives directed to bringing Mr Martin Amidu down, nobody cares and they won’t work.

Her colleagues and all those with her that have abused their positions by embezzling State funds and assets must be ready to face the no-nonsense man Mr Martin Amidu, a son of Ghana who has made many a discerning Ghanaian proud.

I am not in the mood to continue since most has so far been said to carry my views about the moaning by Dr Valerie Sawyerr to the Ghanaian and worldwide reading public.

More grease to the elbows of both His Excellency the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Mr Martin Amidu, the mere mention of whose name puts the corrupt persons in Ghana to flight.
