A Welder, Joseph Kumah was on Monday, remanded by an Accra circuit court for conspiring with one Ayittey Wadana to rob one David Sackey, a technician at the Manet village.

Joseph and his accomplice robbed the victim of six mobile phones worth GH¢ 6,000.00, a laptop worth GH¢ 5,000.00, a digital camera worth GH¢ 800.00 and a power bank worth GH¢ 400.00.

The plea of the accused was not taken by the court because his mouth was bandaged as a result injury which he sustained when he was fired upon with a gun by the complainant in the case.

The case was however adjourned to February 23.
The Prosecution, Superintendent Patience Mario, giving facts of the case to the court said the complainant's is at the Manet Village, near Spintex, whilst Joseph is a welder and lives at Teshie.

She said the accused and Ayittey now at large, belong to an armed robbery group, who have been operating in and around the Manet Village.

On February 2, at about 0215 hours, the accused and his accomplice, armed with cutlasses, cutter and a flat screwdriver entered the house of the complainant after scaling the wall. They used the screwdriver to push open a sliding glass door of the complainant's house and entered.

The Prosecution said they picked the above listed items, and packed them on a table in the living room, however unknown the robbers, the complainant was watching them from his room.

However when they were about to carry the items away, the complainant who was then armed with a pump action gun confronted them.

Joseph who was then armed with a cutlass attempted to slash the complainant but the complainant fired at him, they however managed to escape.

Superintendent Mario said the complainant reported the incident to the Police and Joseph who had sustained injuries at the mouth, jaw and the neck went to the Lekma Hospital, where he was treated and later referred to the 37 Military Hospital for further treatment.

She told the court that at the 37 Military hospital, it was detected after treatment that the injuries were as a result of a gunshot and therefore the case was reported to the Police.

Joseph was arrested and he then admitted the offence.
