NDC Next Edition Of NDC Unity Walk Moved To Somanya Coming Saturday
FEB 19, 2018 LISTEN

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced, the Eastern Region town of Somanya is next to host its Unity Walk campaign on Saturday, February 24.

The march which seeks to bring fresh vitality into the opposition party will be the 6th in succession following previous ones organised in Tamale, Cape Coast, Accra, Tarkwa and Techiman in the Northern, Central, Greater Accra and Techiman, respectively.

It will be the second major event organised by the party since the beginning the year after the Techiman walk which took place on January 6.

The party plans to elect officers at constituency, regional and national levels ahead of the election of a flagbearer to lead the party in the year 2020.

Party faithful are expected to converge at Kpong junction at 6 am from where they will start the walk and march through Nuaso, Agomenya, Odumase, Atua and to the Somanya Akutunya Lorry Park, where the leaders will take turns to address them.

Former President John Mahama; his vice, Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur; Party chairman, Kofi Porturphy and General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia will be leading the walk. All flagbearer hopefuls have also been invited for the walk, organisers have told Myjoyonline.com.

The NDC is currently embarking on a nationwide exercise to reorganise and registration of its support base as it plans to recapture power after a humiliating defeat in the general elections held on December 7, 2016, at the hands of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
