Mrs. Genevieve Eba-Polley, the Executive Director of the Ghana Book Trust, on Monday urged parents to inculcate reading habits in their children, stating that; "reading is the window for success".

She said apart from children reading local books for general information and about their surroundings, they could also read international books, to know what was happening in other countries.

Mrs Eba-Polley gave the advice in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Accra, on Monday.

She said children, who enjoy reading, not only do better in language and literacy subjects, but in all other subjects as well, adding that, reading broadens children's minds and their knowledge base.

She said parents must always encourage their children to read since children who read a lot find it easy to understand and answer examination questions better.

She advised parents to encourage their children to patronage libraries to read, especially during the weekends.

Mrs Eba-Polley said parents must also limit how much time their children spend watching television.

She said parents must make sure that children have books to read, apart from their home work; declaring that "even if they read one chapter of a book every day', adding that, 'it should be one hour of reading, whether they like it or not".
