Mahama Was A Victim Of Bias Perception And Baseless Hatred
18.02.2018 LISTEN

So i wanted to know his views after the confessions, vindications and massive expression of regrets. And this was what said "Lion, never attempt separating politics from religion. You should forever guide your action and political activities with all the virtues captured in the scriptures- the Bible and the Quran. The reason we find it hard to forgive people who accuse us falsely are endless. But the commandment remains- not as a counsel of how to live a healthier, happier life- but with the added reminder that we will only find forgiveness as we forgive" When i stubbornly pushed my position, he told me "Forgiveness is not optional: it is a fundamental spiritual action which we must learn to use as though our salvation and political life depended upon it- for it does.Lion, go to your branch and support the reorganization process that is the most important thing for now". It was enough a meal for my soul that day. I left the place with my shapeless head swinging on my head.

Yea, my boss has spoken but let's look at the issues I had wanted to raise in that encounter. The wound opponents of the former President, his government and his party inflicted on them prior to the 2916 election was too deep; their activities were not just against the administration but against someone who sacrificed his life for this country, someone Ghanaians love who was particularly vulnerable because of the position he occupied. They successfully caused emotional discomfort and contradicted our prior beliefs. Their lies and propaganda were well packaged that they those who consumed them deviated from norm or rationality in judgement leading to errors of judgement and trivia. The damage from bias perception and speculation is often greater than from the truth. I am sure post election events will guide us not to place reliance on perception and unconfirmed rumours, but seek a second opinion and real facts when making critical political decisions. Too often some politicians in collaboration with their allies in some civil society organisations and the media, engage in distortion, even profaning the truth to enable them attain political goals. This creates a far deeper problem than social gossip. People's lives become at risk. This attitude of pushing our bias perception and the cancer of "Perception is Reality" is gradually taking over our body politic unjustly infecting the reputation of this great country. The potential for spin, rumour, disinformation is increasing with the growth in human networking. The real learning point is that we must all become better at managing perception, both to convey the right message and to see through the growing mist of illusion. Let's find our from our friends-

  1. Where is the warehouse the current first deputy speaker of Parliament alleged that the former first lady was putting up inside the flagstaff house?
  2. Where are the fuel stations we were told were owned by appointees of the last administration?
  3. Where are the hotels in Dubai
  4. Where are the mansions they alleged the former President bought across the country
  5. What about the Bank they alleged was bought by the former President and his brother
  6. Can they furnish us with the list of brothers and sisters of the former President they alleged were appointed into his government
  7. Where is the Ship they alleged was given to the former President by the Italian Prime Minister
  8. Confirm the friends and family government allegation
  9. Evidence to support the vote rigging allegation
  10. Now that Mr Osafo Marfo is occupying the former residence of Mr Mahama, can he furnish us with pictures of the special room the alleged he was keeping gold bars and the special zoo? 11, Where are customised vehicles they alleged were given to the former President by the Japanese Prime Minister etc etc.

That was how wicked human beings created in the image of God acted because of political power. I could enlarge the list of those satanic allegations but we are all too familiar with it.

How many leaders or politicians going into election will play the risk of telling the electorate that "If doing what is right for my nation and people than playing tricks with them by implementing populist policies will affect their chances, they are prepared for it". Some of our intellectuals, politicians, opinion leaders and even some religious leaders failed to evaluate that statement to know or see its significance to our contemporary politics. I am happy he said "forgiveness is not optional but a fundamental spiritual action which we must learn to use as though our salvation" God bless him for this courageous stance.

Others judgement and decision making were distorted by an array of cognitive, perpetual and motivational biases so were unable to recognise their own biases. This occurred because they were bombarded with too much stimuli every day by those hired media personnel to pay equal attention to everything. They couldn't see the inherent goal oriented oculomotor behaviour. My happiness is that he did not apply reciprocally aggressive and competitive behaviour as others expected him to do. The God Lord is today fighting for him. Many at times people's perceptions of their adversaries as biased leads them to act conflictually towards those adversaries but the former President did not allow that to dictate his actions but rather stayed focus.

Beloved, ask yourself what his adversaries would have said on radio and wrote on their social media platforms if -

  1. He celebrated a Valentine day when he was in power - bringing radio and television stations to his residence to capture him presenting a special card, expensive jewelry and a special bed to his wife as Dr Bawumia did yesterday.
  2. he appointed his child, brothers, cousins, in laws, nephews into his government
  3. if he made it a routine to always pay special tribute to E.A Mahama or Nkrumah or even Jerry Rawlings before addressing Parliament
  4. his cousin in collaboration with his business associates issued a bond in the name of Ghana
  5. the wife acted signed loans on behalf of the state
  6. it was revealed that he appointed his party's financier to head a sensitive state agency like BOST
  7. he openly stated cleared his ministers who are under investigation.
  8. he changed plaques and attributed achievements of his predecessors to himself
  9. he traveled with a 196 member delegation to the United Nations
  10. he kept Gitmo 2 in Ghana after condemning his predecessor when in opposition.
