The National Executive body of the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA), led by its President Mr. Andrews Danso Aninkora of Kessben Fm, held an affirmation election for both Central and Western Regional coordinators and their deputies at the Grand Favor Hotel in Takoradi of the western region.

The meeting held on 16th February, 2018, was for the GIBA members of the two regions to meet the national executives, interact with them to see the way forward of the association and also to elect regional coordinators and deputies.

The Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association in essence is an authorised and operational non-state owned private and independent broadcasting organisation which have come together to form a body to promote one common interest whiles it also stands for objectivity, professionalism, integrity, fairness and promoting education to broadcasters and the general public.

In a short speech, the Western Regional Coordinator elect, Philip Nana Koah of Max Fm Enchi, said he is much conversant with the problems and merits in radio broadcast today in Ghana, operations and activities of GIBA and has a fair idea of the Western Region to know the difficulties and challenges of district in the region. He said, it is a tool that is supposed to facilitate the wellbeing of the industry of the region but they have not had the full benefit of it.

Mr. Koah stated that, he and his Central Reginal Colleague have offered themselves to be considered as coordinator for both regions, to have the chance and the platform to do what they can with the help of the members in the regions.

Mr. Phillip Koah of Max Fm as the Western Regional GIBA Coordinator and his deputy Bless Borkloe of Radio Silver pulled 20 votes each.

The Central Regional Coordinator elect for the second time Mr. Nana Yaw Ayensu of Obrempong Fm had 6 votes whiles his deputy Gideon Eyinful also got 5 votes.

The two coordinators and deputies accepted their new position offered to them by the members and pledged to bring all broadcasters on board to make the regions stand firm in the association.
