I have just read a publication on Ghanaweb under their General News of Wednesday, 14 February 2018 titled, “Martin Amidu will collapse NPP; mark my words – Ken Agyapong”. This is the second time that Kennedy Agyapong (Hon) has expressed his intuitive concerns about Mr Martin Amidu coming to collapse the NPP.

I am beginning to question myself why Kennedy Agyapong is so bitter about His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo appointing Mr Martin Amidu, a man of proven track record as a selfless person who hates corruption, the bane of the socio-economic emancipation of Ghana, with passion, as the nominee for the position of the Special Prosecutor?

The Special Prosecutor is assigned to fight the official corruption in permanent perpetration by the country’s politicians, Heads of Civil Service, the Private Sector institutions and I wish it included our traditional heads.

Every Ghanaian knows very well that the abuse of power by our leaders coupled with their propensity to embezzle State funds and assets is the cause of the poverty, lack of respect for Africans by our contemporary whites and the joblessness culminating in armed robberies by the youths. Why should Kennedy Agyapong constantly bemoan the appointment of a person publicly acknowledged to be a man of integrity and has aversion for corruption in all its forms and shapes, to occupy the post of the Special Prosecutor?

We are first seeking the collective interests of Ghana than that of any political party. Therefore, if he has any concerns about NPP being hunted by Mr Martin Amidu for his yet to be disclosed reasons, then he had better advise those within NPP that are corrupt to steer clear from corruption. We cannot continue to protect corrupt officials or politicians in Ghana simply because they belong to our political party or they are our family members or friends. The time has come for us to hold the bull by the horn.

Should Mr Martin Amidu and His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo fail to successfully fight corruption, my intuition tells me the Ghanaian youths will rise in a civil revolution to liberate Ghana from the hands of our corrupt politicians and leaders. To avoid that sort of probable bloodshed happening, let us all pray and hope that the President and the Special Prosecutor succeed in their onerous task of fighting the canker that is always militating against the progress of the nation.

For how long are we going to sit down with arms folded around the chest doing nothing when our shameless politicians plunder the coffers of the nation with impunity?

Whatever the fears of Kennedy Agyapong are, Mr Martin Amidu, a person who does not discriminate when doing his job, is the best bet to do the job. I would have expected Kennedy Agyapong to support Martin Amidu with all his mind, soul and heart since he, Kennedy, also has aversion for corruption.

The best Kennedy can do now is to advise any known corrupt persons within NPP to stay away from any dodgy deals that have the potential to incriminate them hence being investigated by the Special Prosecutor.

Kennedy, are you for fighting against corruption or you are for the continuation of institutional corruption in Ghana? If you are indeed for fighting against corruption, then please support Martin. You have only to inform the members of NPP who you deem to be corrupt to desist from their nefarious activities or else, they will soon be caught in the net about to be cast by Mr Martin Amidu.

This advice is the best that I can impart to Kennedy as all his wailings will be for nothing because the die is already cast and when the die is cast, there is no turning back.

Please Kennedy, I have much respect for you and your philanthropism. I know you are a clean person. Please, let us all seek the collective interests of mother Ghana and her children first before the sectional interests of our political parties and/or tribes.

A word to the wise is sufficient.
