Students of the Korlebu Nursing and Midwifery Training College who were last December evicted from their hostels say their academic work has been affected by the move.

The students numbering about 20, had their hostels taken over by some foreign students, Joy News has learnt.

They were reportedly evicted on the orders of Principal, Margaret Segbefia and supervised by policemen.

They are also accusing the principal of denying them access to the school’s bus to transport them to and from campus.

“We have two hostels for third-year boys. They said some foreigners will be coming around so we in House six had to move. We went to write exams but on our return, we saw carpenters, masons working on our hostel. We were told to pack out but where are we going to get accommodation?

“We are just hanging around. Meanwhile, we are in school doing our clinicals,” one of the students narrated their plight.

“We are trying to beg her to get accommodation for us because she cannot evict us and tell us to go and get our own accommodation,” another student said.

The SRC president Kabore Issah told Joy News attempts by the student leadership to get school authorities to address the situation have proven unsuccessful.

He said he reported the issue to the National president of Nurses midwifery association who then informed the principal about the plight of the students.

The principal is reported to have promised to solve the matter but nothing has been done yet, Kabore Issa pointed out.

But the Health ministry is accusing the students of rejecting alternative accommodation provisions made for them by school authorities.

Public Relations Officer of the Health ministry Robert Cudjoe, however, told Joy News they are working to get the students housed in another hostel.
