Regional Minister for Upper West, Alhassan Sulemana was on 1st February suspended from Official Duties for instigating vigilantism in the Region.
Many are shocked with the development and are wondering why.
1. Nadmo Boss Attacked by Party Thugs in his office.
The regional office of NADMO was attacked by party thugs known to be from Wa East District, An Amount of Ghc5000 was stolen in the process. Police had to come and insure order at the Regional coordinating council. Some people were arrested in the process and were later in the day released on the orders of the Regional Minister.
2. Issahaku Tahiru, Wa Central MCE’s house Vandalized. The Municipal Chief Executive of Wa Central was faced with vandalism when his family house was vandalized by thugs believed to be party faithfuls of the ruling Party NPP. The issue was left to grace in which people expected legal actions to be taken. The public have opined that the regional minister took sides in the case thereby making it impossible for legal actions to be taken against the thugs.
3. Physical threats hits GES.
Some notorious chaps from Tanina Assaulted a teacher from Duori in Tanina, a village under Wa West District. The teacher was protective of a female student whose presence was needed by some community boys believed to be their girlfriend. The teacher after refusing to comply was physically assaulted during closing hours after which a log was used on him. This made his collapse in the process thereby compelling GNAT and the Ghana Education Service to close down the school temporally for investigations to take place. Also an issue of Students in Eremon Senior High Technical in Lawra demonstrating against school authorities for disallowing some dresses during entertainment has sparked misunderstanding between teachers and students this has led to suspension of some students for misconduct.
The regional minister was yet to come into the issue.
4.Dullness. Most people presume the regional minister is one of the mild types whom they think is not active enough to run the region’s affairs. The regional minister is alleged to have health problems leading to his weak approach in handing sensitive issues.
Most people opined that he rather took personal issues more serious than what he was tasked to do thus travelling with his wife to hajj in not less than 6months in office when he should have focused on regional issues by then including a police verbally assaulting residents of upper west and another shooting a resident known to be a teacher in early 2017. People strongly believe the Regional Minister is not a politician and has no diplomatic approach to issues.
His Deputy Amidu Chinnia will act on his Behalf till further notice.
