GFA/Hearts condemn attack on Kotoko coach

Accra, Aug 1, GNA - The Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club have condemned the recent attack on Abdul Karimu Zito, the Head Coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko by unknown assailants a day before the Club's 18th week league match against Liberty Professionals at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra last Sunday.

The coach was said to have been attacked whilst on his way back from the burial and funeral of his playmate and former coach of Hearts, Emmanuel Ofei Ansah.

A statement signed by Mr Kofi Nsiah, General Secretary of the GFA said "We condemn in no uncertain terms the savage attack by the perpetrators of this heinous crime".

Mr Nsiah on behalf of the GFA wished the coach speedy recovery. Hearts on its part described the attack as a shameful incident but thanked the Almighty God for preserving the life of the coach. The statement signed by Mr Ashford Tettey-Oku, Administrative Manager of Hearts wished the injured coach a speedy recovery to enable him continue his good services to Kotoko and Ghana football.
