WordDigest: Developing A Good Relationship With God 27 Be A Cheerful Giver
28.01.2018 LISTEN

"Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury. And many who were rich put in much. Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrans. So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood.” [Mark 12:41-44] NKJV

The widow's two mites offering is a fascinating one.

This story has some lessons we can glean from it.
It teaches one major principle of having a good relationship with God.

That we should give cheerfully from our hearts regardless of the quantum.

Come to think of it. It could be in that temple, there were bankers, great professionals who gave their offerings into the temple treasury too.

But from afar, Jesus appreciated the small offering from the widow than those prominent people.

Why?
Because the widow who cheerfully gave from heart was content with what she has, truthful to herself and understood giving.

Be a cheerful giver not only in the church but your community as well.

Prayer
Lord Jesus grant us a heart of a cheerful giver and the benefits thereof, Amen.
