Winneba Inaugurates Branch Of Rotary Club

The Rotary Club of Winneba has been officially welcomed into the Rotary family with a call on the members to build a membership dedicated to the idea of service.

Mr Ian H. S. Riseley, President, Rotary Club International, said this in a message delivered on his behalf at a Presentation and a Fund Raising Dinner to officially admit Rotary Club of Winneba into the Rotary Family.

District Governor Mr Ari Touba Ibrahim on the President of Rotary International presented the Charter 'number 9102' which symbolizes the admission of the Rotary Club of Winneba into the membership in the Rotary International to the Local President Mr Justice Cudjoe.

The Rotary clubs provide a place for those with a passion for community service to connect, share ideas and discover how to make a difference in the lives of others, Mr Riseley said.

He expressed the hope that by coming together, they will accomplish great things as they serve local and international communities through Rotary.

District Governor Ibrahim urged the members of the new club to keep the momentum and focus on serving the community where they are located by focusing on the implementation of sustainable projects and activities within the six focus area of the Rotary.

He mentioned peace and conflict prevention and resolution, disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy and economic and community development as the six focus area of the Club.

Rotary President of Club of Accra-Labone (RP) George Yaw Agyekum commended members of the New Club for showing a high level of enthusiasm in all their efforts and urged them to remember that, the core mandate of Rotarians is their service to mankind and their motto is 'Service above self'.

Mr Cudjoe President of Rotary Club Winneba, thanked all who in diverse ways have supported them to make their outdooring successful.

He said with the current numerical strength of 34, they joined their sponsoring club to carry a health screening exercise, and donated drugs, food and other materials to Woarabeba a deprived fishing community in Effutu Municipality and the maternity ward of the Winneba Government Hospital.

He said their main project is to purchases medical equipment (Delivery Beds) which is estimated over 20,000.00 Ghana Cedis.
